She is not ILL. She is Pregnant.

The ancient collective perception of pregnancy and childbirth as dangerous experiences to the family and the whole community created a cloud of fear. Security, removal of risks, anticipating potential “worse-case-scenarios” are the antidotes to fear. We submit to the entity that provides these antidotes. Such entity is viewed as one with the authoritative knowledge because it/they “provide the solution”. Having a solution usually entails that something or someone is in need of assistance due to pathological issue. Hence in bodily subjects and functions such as pregnancy and childbirth, the medical community has inherited the honor of having this authority, respectively, with the perception that pregnancy is an illness--when in fact, it is not.
